QUESTION POSED ON: 11 March 2008
In November, I upgraded a laptop from Windows XP to Windows Vista. I installed SQL Server 2005 Express. Earlier this week, I installed SQL Server 2005 and installed Service Pack 2. None of the SQL Server tools appear in the start menu, but Add/Remove Programs show that they are installed. What can I do?

EXPERT RESPONSE
When you install SQL Server 2005 the client tools are not installed automatically. You will need to run the installer again and on the list of services select the last option on the list which is the "Client Tools." It is also possible that the tools are installed but the shortcut didn't get created. Check in c:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90toolsbinn and see if sqlwb.exe exists. If it does, the tools are there and you can just create the shortcuts manually.
